Confetti Board Games Jam 2021
My roles: organization and promotion.
For the Confetti Industry Week 2021 game jam, I was part of the team tasked with organizating the event, I volunteered for this team due to my experience competing in a previous game jam.
I suggested that we set a specific set of client rules that each team of participants must abide by, as this would make judging the different projects easier as they would contain similar elements that we could then compare.
My suggestions included a certain theme, one goal where each team would then come up with their own scenario in order to reach, a distinct character that must appear however what capacity he appears in was left intentionally vague to see how each team responded, and finally, capping the number of contestants per team to make it more fair for the smaller teams.
When it came to promotional material we initially came up with a uniform trailer with similar events Confetti had run in the past; information about the event, spliced with footage of people playing tabletop games, and dice rolls. However I then suggested that we mix in additional footage of RPG games as a visualisation of what the players are doing on their journey, as "the journey" was the theme we decided on for the client requirements.
The group agreed on this idea and got to creating a second trailer using footage from those of us who'd worked on similar types of games during our previous course years.
